Julia R. Brown, Ph.D., is Assistant Professor of Spanish in the Department of Languages, Linguistics, and Comparative Literatures at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida, where she teaches courses on Latin American literature, cultural theory, and film. She holds a Ph.D. in Hispanic Literatures from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She has published on cinema, photography, and literature in both the U.S. and Mexico and was previously Editorial Assistant for Mexican Studies/Estudios Mexicanos. From 2021-2022 she held a Fulbright-García Robles grant in Mexico City in affiliation with the Instituto de Investigaciones Estéticas at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. She is co-editor for the forthcoming volume Women Photographers and Mexican Modernity: Framing the Twentieth Century (Routledge).
